SHOW EVERYONE YOUR FESTIVE SPIRIT WITH THESE 5 WINDOW DECORATING IDEAS

As Andy Williams said, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. All across Cork, we are seeing Christmas lights, Christmas trees, and various Christmas decorations springing up everywhere you turn. But have you ever thought about spreading some festive cheer by decorating your windows? 

When it comes to decorating for Christmas, there are usually two types of people. You have your Scrooges that will try to leave it as close to Christmas Day as possible to reluctantly put up their Christmas tree following the relentless pressure from others. While the second type of person, are those that turn their homes into a Winter Wonderland once it’s a minute passed midnight on Halloween, with enough Christmas lights to light up half of Cork City. 

Okay maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, and you may be somewhere in between, but either way, we have some Christmas decorating tips for you to help show everyone passing by or visiting your home your festive spirit. 

Last year, we looked at ideas such as twinkling lights, candles, garlands, ornaments & baubles, Christmas card displays, wreaths, and Christmas trees to get you and your windows in the Christmas spirit (read last year’s blog here – LINK TO BLOG), but this year we are going to take a look at a couple of more unique ideas you may not have thought about before to decorate your windows this Christmas.

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW! 

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? We may or may not get snow this Christmas in Cork, but that shouldn’t stop you using your windows as the perfect backdrop for a cherry festive scene. Try spray snow to create that frosty look on your windows and wipe away an oval shape in the middle to showcase whatever Christmas decorations you have on your windowsill, or even just to create that post card snowy Christmas look. 

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE THE GRINCH TO BE GREEN THIS CHRISTMAS

Another classic window decorating idea, which really adds a festive feel to any home, is by framing your windows on the outside with simple evergreen garlands. If you want to add even more Christmas cheer, try adding some lights or even bright red bows for that pop of colour. 

CANDY CANE LANE

Christmas is a time where most of us enjoy some sweet treats, but have you ever tried decorating your windows with them? The ‘Candy Cane’ theme is really in this Christmas, so why not try hanging some Candy Canes or peppermint sweets from your windows. It’s sure to add that extra special Christmassy cheer to your home, especially for the little ones. 

ICICLE LIGHTS

Curtain or icicle led lighting, can really add a warm, bright, and cosy glow to any window. We definitely recommend soft white bulbs for this, and why not even try hanging them behind your blinds or curtains to create the appearance of falling snow. 

PUT ON A HI-TECH CHRISTMAS SHOW

If all these ideas seem a little too much DIY effort, don’t worry, we have the perfect solution for you.
