HOME DÉCOR TRENDS FOR 2022

After reviewing new products, consumer trends and industry reports, we’re noticing the following trends that revolve around colour, comfort levels, cosiness, and of course convenience.  

LIGHTER WOOD TONES

Wooden tones in itself have seen a resurgence recently, but for 2022 in particular we are seeing lighter coloured wood tones on cabinets, floors, window blinds etc., trending. This trend has been building and gathering momentum, and there is no reason to indicate that this trend is going to stop anytime soon. Lighter wood tones are viewed as being firstly more natural, but secondly, they are also easier to keep clean which is a big selling point in today’s market in comparison to darker tones which will show up dirt a lot more. Light wood tones combine well with some of the trending paint colours also which we will discuss next.

EARTHY NEUTRALS

In 2022, we are expecting to see the gradual shift away from the grey colours that have dominated the last number of years to continue, and the emergence of more earthy neutral colours. Any greys that are remaining on trend are either featuring a warmer undertone, or else being combined with creamy white colours to add that feeling warmth and cosiness. These colours blend well with the lighter wood tones mentioned above and works extremely well with an accent of black. This can be achieved through the introduction of black accessories, hardware, or even window blinds and frames. 

Green is another earthy colour that has been trending throughout 2021 and expected to remain popular in 2022. Whether it’s a deep moody green or lighter sage, it’s a colour that will continue to dominate from kitchen cabinets, feature walls, and more. 

NATURAL FABRICS AND TEXTURES

Texture can add a real layer of comfort to your home, and in 2022 we are expecting to see the continued popularity of nubby lines, woven pillows, fringed throws, shaggy rugs to add texture to rooms. Window blinds such as Roman Blinds are an excellent way to add some texture to a room. To coincide with the trends of earthy colours and lighter wooden tones we have already mentioned, it should be no surprise to hear that the use of natural materials in furnishing and home décor, including window blinds, is also expected to be popular in homes throughout 2022. This will include rattan, wicker, bamboo, reeds, and more! 

A SPACE OF OUR OWN

If the COVID-19 pandemic has changed anything in our homes, it’s how best to make the most out of our homes and the spaces between our four walls. Spaces have been transformed in to work offices or learning spaces, and we have seen a huge increase in the demand for private spaces to accommodate. The open floorplan trend which has been so popular in recent years, may just change in 2022 back to separate rooms and spaces to allow for private, quiet areas to work, study or even just to read a book. 

MOTORISATION AND AUTOMATION

With more and more houses coming online as “smart homes,” motorised shades, blinds and curtains are here to stay. The ability to open and close your cordless blinds, shades, or shutters with the touch of a button is not only convenient, but it also provides child safety, energy efficiency, security, and convenience. This is without a doubt another trend we see being popular in 2022.
